PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Session Information:

  • Register: Follow the link below to register. Once complete, your spot will be reserved in the Hands-On / Minds-On Session and you will receive a calendar invite.

  

  • Registration Fee Coverage: Your registration fee has been paid to cover the cost of training, breakfast, lunch, and snacks throughout the duration of the event.

 

  • Travel and Accommodation: Please note that attendees are responsible for arranging their own travel and hotel accommodations. For your convenience, we have provided a list of local area hotels below.

​

  • Event Attire: Sessions with a casual dress code will run from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. We recommend considering a light jacket as the training labs are air-conditioned, ensuring your comfort throughout the sessions.

​

  • Personal Devices and Note-Taking: Please bring your own tech devices, such as a laptop or Chromebook. Additionally, we encourage you to bring a notebook and pen for note-taking during the sessions.

 

  • Check the Website for Updates: Continue to check our website for the most current information and the tentative schedule of the training. We may post updates or changes to the schedule, and we want to ensure you have the latest information.

Agenda:

 

Day 1
 

  • Welcome & Introductions

  • Instructors Build Rocket

  • Trainers identify Activity Guides in Virtual Binder and show which activities are to be completed in each module

  • Instructors choose a partner and begin completing activities. At this time they will use a generic
    student account to access LMS

  • Trainers define expectations for the training and professional development sessions

    • Hands-On - Completing as many activities as possible

    • Minds-On - Comfortable, navigating LMS from a student perspective, delivering Lab Basics, student profile registration process, creating courses, reviewing evidence, grading rubrics and understanding grades view

  • Accessing and explanation of LMS Instructor Only Resources
     

Day 3

Group Session: Customer Service, Warranty & Copyrights

  • Describe warranty procedures

  • Summarize repair and replacement procedures

  • Review the technical support process including Go To Assist

  • Discuss copyright restrictions

  • Introduce Webstore

 

Hands-On: In the Lab

  • Lab management best practices

  • Complete module training activities

  • Rocket Launch

 Minds-On: PCLMS - Scheduling, Grades, Evidence, and Test Tool

  • Reviewing Evidence in Dashboard (file, prompt, rubric)

  • Grade view

  • Review Knowledge Check and Checkpoint Test performance

  • Interpret knowledge level colors (novice, apprentice, scholar)

  • Modify, Revert, or Create a Checkpoint Test

  • Knowledge Check vs. Checkpoint Test

  • Demonstrate how to Open/Close Checkpoint Tests

  • Create a Printer Friendly test with limited distractors for IEP students

  • Describe the Make Dynamic Feature and determine when it should be used.​

Day 2
 

Hands-On: In the Lab

  • Discuss best practices with a practicing learning system’s instructor

  • Lab Equipment/Materials Management

  • Have a back up plan

  • Explain when the Activity Reference is utilized

  • Complete training activities

Minds-On: PCLMS - Create a Course, Enroll Students, and Scheduling

  • Create Master Course and courses derived from the Master Course

  • Remove any content you don’t intend to teach

  • Identify and distribute a Course Code for student enrollment

  • Create a sample student accounts (3 accounts)

  • Confirm course roster in Dashboard

  • Create a student schedule and make modifications

  • Navigate PCLMS from student view

  • Submit Evidence of learning (prompts and pdf’s) and take knowledge check

  • Take Checkpoint Test
